Couples therapy focuses on the aspects that affect the relationship, such as communication difficulties, emotional distance, recurring conflicts, emotional dependence, insecurity, fear of breaking up, self-esteem issues, or sexual problems. These challenges can cause distress and lead to the consideration of separation.
In the sessions, the aim is to guide the couple towards the goals they set, whether towards a healthier and more constructive relationship, restoring balance, or supporting reflective analysis and decision-making about the future of the relationship.
In our sessions, after evaluating the factors that cause and sustain the distress, we propose interventions to improve communication, conflict resolution, and sexual intimacy. During the intervention, I facilitate communication, encourage the expression of feelings and needs, and promote empathetic listening and mutual respect.
Additionally, we address issues such as resentment, emotional “debts”, unresolved problems, and seek tools to manage tension and propose changes in the relationship dynamics. With practical exercises and new behavioural guidelines, we work together to achieve a stronger and more satisfying relationship.
